Re-integration to society while experiencing isolation and food insecurity is difficult. No two struggles are alike - regardless of history. Anyone interested in personal improvement is welcomed at the Guild. We work together; building a sense of community; strengthening each other; mentoring and working towards our individual successes. If you’re ready to take back your life, have a sense of community, and are ready to get out of your room, the guild might be for you.
The Guild has developed into a peer-to-peer network of individuals who are now in the process of making their way back to a place of fulfillment. The Guild was founded by volunteers at a local Toronto food bank. What started out as getting together for coffee and conversation grew into a not-for-profit organization and the development of a three-phase program:
1. Attending regular peer to peer meetings. Participants regain their confidence while supporting each other by sharing their experiences, talents and strategies.
2. The option to volunteer with local food insecurity organizations (Second Harvest, Bike Brigade, Good Neighbours and more). In addition to rebuilding credibility, resumes and developing leadership skills, participants get the satisfaction of giving back.
3. Developing a personal plan. The last phase, is participants with the assistance of fellow participants who begin to develop a personal plan to achieve their success goals. This is supported by Guild resources and community partnerships.
